This Really Happened!

First things first, I still don't really know what is going on, but I am not stressed at all. I learned in mission prep that stress is a faith problem, so basically I just know what happens is supposed to happen:)

Ok, well I survived my first year of college! I'll be honest, I didn't really have that much fun the first semester.  I went from being super involved, to no involvement at all.  That changed quick when I started being more involved with the Student Alumni Association, I was on the committee for A-Week.
For all you non-aggies A-Week is basically homecoming in the spring.  Week long activities and mucho FUN!

So we started the week out with the Red Bull Chariot Races.  It was their 3rd year in a row coming to USU, which was very unusual, but Aggies are just that cool:)
The SAA team won, for the third year in a row. I think the competitors were just afraid of Bryan after the first race.... He really is the nicest guy when not competing:)

The rest of the week consisted of a movie in the Spectrum, which I was unable to go to since I was studying for mi examen en español... Next was the bike mob, which was pretty legit, I must say! Thursday was the Miss USU Pageant, and Friday was the dance and true aggie night.
It was a very successful week! I am so glad that I was a part of it. I met some pretty awesome people.
Another exciting thing during A-Week was when we ordered two pizzas this size.

I met Doug Fiefia through the Alumni Association and earlier in the spring my roommates and I were on his campaign team. He was running for ASUSU President, similar to student body president.  That was super exciting, PLUS his family made us dinner after every meeting. I am glad I was able to get to know multiple people through his campaign. It is amazing how many great people you meet when you are involved, PLUS you make memories.  Some of my favorite from the campaign, overall, would be painting the A-Frames in the butt cold weather and the Dirty Thirty (30 minute dance, no longer no shorter).

Oh, and of course, Doug Won!
#Fiefia2013

Ok, so the last exciting thing before finals was the End of the Year Bash.  I only went to one day of the bash, and that was to the concert.  The bands that came this year were awesome! It was He is We, The Ready Set, and Parachute.  I was on the Floor, close to the stage.  Let me just say that I had a hold of Will's, the lead singer from parachute, sweat rag, but no, a bunch of boys decided they wanted it more... But I didn't really care to be honest.

All three of the bands were super amazed, at least that is what they said, at how many people were in attendance. They are bands that usually play in smaller venues, but the spectrum was FILLED!!

After the concert we went with some friends from Old Farm to Hyde Park Canyon and had a pallet bon fire! And I am proud to say that I have now roasted a marshmallow on a real wooden stick. Why had I never done this before? All I can come up with is that the metal sticks seemed more sanitary.

Finals went perfect! My finals week wasn't too filled with test, only one, actually, for español. I had finals in all my other classes too, but they were spread out across the last four weeks of the semester.

Well, no more classe... BIG WHOOOOOOP!

*Until Fall*

The Universe Inside My Head

Why don't you ask me what my future holds.... because I can confidently say I have no idea, whatsoever.

I just love when you think you have a general idea of where your future is going, but then something changes.  You realize that maybe your plans might not be right.  This whole process has happened in the past couple weeks.

I started my freshman year with an undeclared major.

Freshman year is almost over, and I still have an undeclared major.

(I usually wouldn't post on the internet something this personal, but I feel as though I need too.)

The past couple weeks I though I had my major figured out. I was just needing to plan to meet with an elementary education advisor and plan out my schedule.  I even had my classes planned for fall semester.  I also had another plan.  I was going to attend fall semester and then submit mission papers and leave at the beginning of 2014. But now, I don't know if that is what I need to do either.

Maybe those plans will still happen, I am not saying they won't. I just don't think I have came to the conclusion the right way.  As I thought about the plans I had made this past weekend, I realized those were my "desires" at the time.  It sounded good? And maybe it is good.

The reason I am back and at the starting line is because I don't think I have been open to my heavenly father if that makes sense.  I have prayed about what I should do, but like I mentioned above, those were my desires.

This might sound weird, but the timing of this situation could not have came at a better moment.

I was spiritually fed this weekend.

It is amazing how things work out the way they do.

So my family (the whole gang) spent the weekend in SLC. The previous monday I was bummed when I walked out of institute and saw Brooke Walker was going to be the speaker for Religion in Life.  Shoot.  I desperately wanted to go, but we would be leaving Friday morning which meant I would not be at school for Religion in Life. I wanted to hear what she had to say so badly, I was going to have someone voice record it.

Well, things happened and Wytten ended up having a doctors appointment on Friday at 11.. This was my opportunity for something great! Not really. But since we were waiting for them, I convinced my parents that we should plan to leave at 1:30.  They agreed which meant this girl got to hear the words of someone special.

** Note when I found out I couldn't go I tweeted about it, and Brooke replied. So when I Found out I was going I obviously tweeted her back and so on**

I had spent the night in Garland because it was my grandpa's retirement party the night before.  So I woke up, got ready, and headed to campus.  You don't even know how excited I was.

On my drive over, I had this realization that what she had prepared, was what I needed to hear. And it was. Everything she talked about I could apply to my life. It was unreal.  After Religion in Life was over, I went up and talked to her (in her twitter reply she said "please come say hi afterwards" well I wasn't going to pass up that opportunity.)

I was nervous. That usually doesn't happen, but it did.  I waited for her to get off the stage and I told her who I was and she gave me a hug and we talked for a minute.  Sweetest person. I don't even know why I was nervous. Such a personable and beautiful lady. Like really, I want to be her friend!  We took a picture, and she asked me to tweet it and link her in it. (Twitter is Awesome)
How blessed I am to have met such an amazing women Role Model:)

I left Logan so happy, I knew it was a start to a great weekend. What I felt was not the everyday, normal feeling.

The second amazing thing that happened was the 183rd Annual General Conference. So many wonderful talks all telling me to have faith in the lords timing, to know that he has a plan for me and to stand firm and steadfast having confidence in the lord.  (If you weren't able to watch conference click HERE)

I might not know what I am doing in my future, but someone does. It is comforting to know that.

Well,  that is it for now... I think:)

Reminiscing the Good Ol' Days

I have went through many stages of missing the team experience.  I especially miss my Slider family!!!

Those memories are some of the best.

Being trailer trash at every tournament possible. Trailer trash was the way to go for sure.

It seemed like every time we played in the Triple Crown World Series we would lose our first tournament game, which meant we were done for the day.  This is when we decided to cheer every one up by buying different varieties of underwear and wearing them over our shorts and pulling or sweats down.

Then we would have team sleepovers in JanDee's Trailer

Being trailer trash at the Wold Series meant camping at the Oakley Fairgrounds! I remember the one year we were there, there was a horse on the loose. All of the guys went to go and help catch the horse... and so did Bailey! Her animal calls were also hilarious.
Another year at the Oakley fair grounds we went to a cabin that was right next store. They had a little pond and one of those water trampolines. Morgan and Kelli got on the trap, thinking it was attached.. well if wasn't and so Kelli used her flip flop as a paddle to get them back to shore:)

Kelli... Running through the all star game with a sparklers and a thong on her head
Or riding a bike through the Brigham Tournament championship game.

This car has been many places... I think it has hit all the back roads possible when trying to find the ball park:) I remember showing up to our game minutes before it started, all of the trailer trash was not only not warm, but car sick! And other times we would just load the Yukon with the whole team and coaches:)

Team bonding on a rainy practice day.

We had some of the greatest fans.. and now they are all grown up!
HAHAHA Grandma Sliders sign:)

Our limo tour of the strip in Vegas because JanDee is thee best!

Some more of the memories include:
  • Hairy Ice after every practice no matter what.
  • Practice under the lights
  • High heel grounders
  • Throwing raw eggs
  • Slip in slide in the sprinklers
  • Miranda's Goggles
  • Kylee tripping over the cord her first practice
  • Miranda having the bat rebound off the giant kick ball and hitting her in the face..(ok not that isn't funny)
  • Lining up for honey shots
  • Venessa Pitching
  • Over running third base (Embarrassing!!)
  • We were the come back kids
  • Mental station with JanDee
  • Ride that pony and Little sally walker before games
There are soooo many more it is unbelievable.

My teammates are incredible people! I would go back any day to the summers where almost every weekend was spent with them.  I just LOVEEEE them SOOOO much

Last but not least... None of these memories would exist if it wasn't for the most incredible coaches ever!!!
Jami Summer and JanDee Canfield

I was so blessed to have them as coaches growing up. If it wasn't for them, I don't think I would have been as successful as I was in high schools sports and life in general.
From them I learned the importance of teamwork.
Never to give up on ANYTHING because I can accomplish anything I want.
Working hard will pay off.
To set goals and achieve them.
Sacrifice.
The love of the game!

They sacrificed so much for our team, and I don't think I can ever repay them for what they have done for me.  I look at the influence they were in my life, and I can only hope I will have the same influence in another persons life!
[Jami if you read this don't feel guilty ;)]

This isn't even a dent in how much I love my team! After all they were my summer sisters:)

Goodbye, Farewell :)

Today was such a good day!!!! I love being reunited with some of my Slider girls.  It was a special reuniting though. We got to celebrate Sister Jessyca Fulmer's mission farewell:)

I feel that if I had to choose a favorite talk from sacrament for the whole year, Jessyca's would be the one I pick.  She is such a great example! I wish I would have recorded her talk or taken notes or something, because I feel like if ever I am going through a trial in my life, or just flat out having a bad day, that reading the words she spoke would just make me feel better! Lansing, Michigan is seriously lucky to have her for the next 18 months.
It was good to be able to spend this morning with Kell, T, and Mo going to Jess's talk:) I forget how funny they are, ok I never forgot, but I sure do miss those summers when we were always practicing or on the road playing softball. It's friends like these girls that I am thankful to have!
And as for you Sister Fulmer, I wish you the best of luck and you are going to be one amazing missionary and I know that you will touch the people of Lansing!
Do Work! Love you:)

FINALS WEEK

I was expecting worse!

It wasn't amazing

But, it wasn't horrible either.

I was finished with finals tuesday night!!

Well it was all fun for me after tuesday, all I had to worry about was going to work. So paige and I did some rearranging, with the help of Cassie and Lauren.

We may have built a fire hazard for about 20 minutes, but I guess it is not that far of a jump from our bedroom window.

We made a GIANT BED... and we had an attempt at a sleep over.. but that resulted in both Lauren and I downstairs.

So lauren went down stairs to plug her phone in and like 30 minutes later I decided to go to the couch because I couldn't fall asleep. Well I went down the stairs and shined my phone so I didn't step on something and all the sudden this human sits up really fast.

that human was lauren and she fell asleep on the floor after she plugged in her phone, she said she was going to come back up stairs. Finals week must have been rough on her:)

Lauren was also my alarm. She can wake up when ever she tells herself she needs to.. so I conducted an experiment:)

I told her to wake me up at 7:20 am for work and that I would set an alarm for 5 minutes later just in case she didn't wake up.  7:23am rolls around that next morning and I felt two taps on the shoulder and heard lauren say WAKEY WAKEY!! hahahaha it honestly made my day so good. Just thinking about going downstairs to her asleep on the floor and hearing WAKEY WAKEY in the morning. She is too cool:)

I went to work and was planning on another fun night, but my battery was dead, and I didn't want to wake up for work and not be able to get there so I just went home.

Going home wasn't all that bad though, I went to the boys basketball game so I got to see all my high schoolers :)

Now this post in finished.

That stuff I was going to talk about..

Yes, I totally spaced writing about military ball and that week with my roommates that I was going to write about.. so I don't remember what exactly I had to say that was so exciting..

Well Military Ball was awesome! It was so fun to go with all of my roommates and thanks to my neighbors who planned the whole night, it was honestly thee best dance, even though me or my date had no idea how to dance to a live band... but we made the most of it.  I think that is what made the dance so fun was the live band! Even after the band left, there was good dancing music, none of the mosh pit, fist pumping music.  That dance made me want to learn how to swing dance even more! I will know how to country swing one day:) After the dance we went to our apartments and changed our clothes then met up back at our apartment where we played Chris's favorite game! You were in teams of 2, and I was on a team with chris. I thought we would definitely win since it was his favorite game Quirkle, but we lost to Garen and Cody. We didn't finish the game for awhile then we piled in the cars and went to Village Inn.  It really was a good night.

My neighbors are honestly thee best! we can scream CHRIS and he will come over to see what we need, they watch movies with us, and put up with our immatureness (they're seniors) :) And we have water fights in the middle of november:)

umm i don't know what else to say?

Well Since The Semester Is Almost Over...

Well I guess maybe I should talk about what has been going on.. although it hasn't been too exciting.
Freshman Year Fall Semester at Utah State University!
It is only like 3 weeks away from being over. I might just survive, just maybe.  I'll be honest the first month of school wasn't as fun as I had anticipated.  Being sick/post fair allergies didn't help the cause.  I am taking 13 credits this semester. My first Class of the day is Creative Arts.. it is horrrrrrible. Mainly because I am not the #1 fan of art history, and having a class as big as 2000 students in a dark concert hall makes it hard to pay attention.  My next class is Political Science.  I actually enjoy this class, if I didn't have an AWESOME SI instructor, I would probably be totally lost, but I was lucky.  This class has been very interesting and has helped me become more involved and informed in the election.  When I got my results from my first essay exam I thought is was going to be a long semester, but I have finally got the hang of things and I should end up with a decent grade, and I will be happy with it :) Then here come the class that has been totally over my head basically this whole semester.  Social Ethics. Man, I guess I know 2 things I will definitely not major in, Philosophy and Art History.  Social Ethics has been interesting, but most of the time I have no idea what is being talked about because all these smart kids use 200th grade vocabulary.  I actually just finished my midterm last week and thank goodness it was a take home midterm and we could work on it in groups and ask her question, if that would not have been the case I would have been in trouble.  All of those classes are general education classes, which I only have 3 more to take and I will be all done with generals.  The fourth class I am taking is Spanish.  I am planning on minoring in Spanish! My professor, Profesora Lund, is sooo sweet. She is a grad student and she works well with all of the students in her class. I have learned a lot, but I have also realized that I learned a lot in Señor Jensen's class.  All of my classes this semester have been on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This worked out great because I get to work full days at Central Milling on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Work
So like I said I have been working 2 days a week at Central Milling.  I don't really have to much to say about what has been happening at work, because it is basically the same everyday, which I am ok with.  BUT..  I do have to tell about one customer that came in.  I honestly want to secretly hide a video that captures the funny moments whether it is me being totally blond, to see how many times Steve and I forget to click PRINT on our computer before walking to an empty printer, the interesting truck drivers, and walk in customers.  I do have one story to tell, I should email it to Bill Engvall so he could use it as a Here's Your Sign joke.

So this lady walks into the office to buy some flour, she looks at our price list and she looks up at me and asked, "So do you guys use this Red Rose Pancake and Waffle Flour to make pancakes and  waffles?"
This is where I almost lost myself in laughter. It was all I could do to hold back from bursting out.. I looked at her and simply answered, "Umm yeah?" I wish I Could think on the spot and I would have replied...
"No we use it to make Torillas!!!!"
HERE'S YOUR SIGN

The Rest of the Fun
So I guess I have done some fun things, but I wish I had more time to be involved on campus.  I will admit, I did go through this stage when I didn't really want to be social and all I did was homework and watch Army Wives on Netflix.. but since I am all caught up, except season 6 part 1 which isn't on Netflix, I have become more social.  I have been to most of the football games (holla for the Aggie being the WAC champions) and I have already started going to the basketball games, which have been awesome.  So I guess November has been the month that I have honestly started having the REAL fun.. and I guess you could say the end of October also.
So end of October, Haley and I got all dressed up in baseball pants and a uniform and headed to the HOWL aka the biggest halloween party in the west). It was pretty fun and slightly sketchy.  I am glad they had more stuff going on other than the dance, or I would have melted in the heat.  It was especially warm in the front. Yes I made it to the front of the mosh pit and it was great.  Then I also found out something else on our way back to Tremonton.  The Subway on main street is open 24 hours!!!

So then November happened, and it is still happening. I have been blessed with a lot of fun this month, and I became more SOCIAL!!!!
So at the first of the month we went to a Stuff a Bus Blitz night. which consisted of students loading up on Aggie Shuttles and being drops off in logan neighborhood to collect food for the Cache Valley food pantry.  My bus got dropped off in all the nice houses on the side of the hill by the island, people are so generous! And we got invited into a house at least 1 time because the guy thought we were there for family home evening.
Went to the first Aggie Basketball Game, sat in the rowdy crowd and got free Chik-Fil-A whole we stood in the freezing line for 2 hours.

And the role of Wild Bill was passes down.

Ok so another exciting this is I got to see Jessyca Fullmer for the first time since Kelli's graduation in 2011.. YES IT WAS SOOO LONG, it really was. Us three went to the game along with Natalie, Lauren and Selah. It was a good game, and Kelli and I have officially decided that our favorite part of the whole game is the winning team, losing team cheer!! Afterwards we went and got some money and then went to Aggie Ice Cream which was amazing.  We ended up driving back to old farm because there was no where to sit, but we just had a good talk in Jessyca's car. That led to us realizing we wanted real food, so at 10:30 we rushed to Winger's and they probably hate us for coming in 30 minutes before they closed, but I think our waiter had fun, he was a funny guy.  We shoved our faces and then had a sleep over at Kelli's apartment.  The next morning we went to her ward and listened to her give a lovely talk on gratitude, and heard this other interesting talk about making hand turkeys.. WEIRD! It was soo good to see Jessyca, especially because she is leaving in January to serve an LDS Mission.  That night I was reminded of how amazing she was, I love her!
MILITARY BALL!!!!
It was so great that I owe it and the last week with my roommates and amazing neighbors their own post.
So the last great thing we did before this weekend was go to an A-Week planning meeting.  It was great and even though it is not going to be happening until April, I am super excited to be involved.  I am glad I am a member of SAA (student alumni association)! That night ended very exciting, and super happy to be an AGGIE!!!

Random Times
So these are some other things that have went on prior to my exciting month of November.. Meet my roommates, who you will hear about later:)
Went to the Chalk Dance on Monday night of Homecoming Week!!
This is Lauren and I love her:) I'm not quite sure what is happening right now.
 Celebrating before the homecoming game
One night we kept migrating into our hallway upstairs, not quire sure why, but we are weird.
We went to the Mr. USU pageant, which was also during homecoming week.  It was awesome and Doug Fiefia won the title.  He is in SAA and he is a great guy.
We tried to change our lightbulb.. but after 4 of us trying we couldn't get the outside case thing to stay on.
Paige made her mouth a speaker... Trust me it worked try it.
after about 2 months of having a blank wall I finally added some pictures and stuff.
And I face timed my soul sister Sarah, and chatted with Lindsay, Mark and helped Denise try to pick out a crazy hat for red ribbon week.
And my car was covered with snow for the first time this year.

I have to say I have some great friends, at USU and also not at USU. Thank goodness for Texting, Phone Calls, FaceTime and Conference Calls:)
Well that is it for Tonight BYEEE

Shaunie Lyn:)
